The inaugural Mullum Roots Festival is scheduled to take place in July 2025\, promising a vibrant celebration of music\, community\, and sustainability. \nFollowing the hiatus of the beloved Mullumbimby Music Festival in 2020\, Lou saw an opportunity to fill the void and revive the town’s rich musical tradition. “The absence of the Mullumbimby Music Festival has been deeply felt within our community\,” says Lou. “We aim to create a sister festival to the Nimbin Roots Festival\, injecting new life into Mullumbimby’s cultural landscape.” \nLou\, and her husband Phil\, both share deep roots in Mullumbimby\, and she is determined to collaborate closely with the local community to ensure the festival’s success. DESCRIPTION:Mambo de Mullum No 5\nFeaturing Kwasi Bruni and Special Guest DJ\nSUNDAY 24th August 2025 3:30pm \nTickets: Early bird $20  \nGeneral Admission and Door Sales $25  \n  \nSunday 24th August sees the return of Mullum de Mambo No 5 featuring Kwasi Bruni bring their deep Afro-Cuban dance groove back to the Mullumbimby Ex Services Club Bandroom. \nKwasi Bruni is an Afro-Cuban big band project led by bassist Barry Hill and Colombian Ex Pat Pianist Camilo Losada. \nBarry met Camilo at a BBQ jam session in 2021 and had an instant musical connection. Both had Colombian family connections and had grown up listening to salsa and Afro-Cuban\nmusic. Both were keen to put a band together. \nFast forward three years\, and Kwasi Bruni is now a 11 (sometimes 12!) piece big band featuring some of the north coast’s finest percussionists and wind players. \nExpect a night of high Energy Dance music\, salsa son and mambo\, paying homage to the music of Cachao Lopez\, and the other great Latin jazz and salsa big bandleaders of the 60s and 70s. \nSpecial Guest DJ to be confirmed. \nA night not to be missed.
